Recently, I received a call a few hours later than my usual quitting time of 6:00 p.m. This was a rush order for The Puerto Rican Princess, Joseline Hernandez. Although exhausted from an already long day, I was tickled by the idea of designing cupcakes that visually represented Puerto Rico–to be picked up at 11:00 p.m.! This order was made by Keneice Wilson, publisher for Best Version Media Eagles Landing Neighbor Magazine, and it is darn near impossible to say no to her!

So I researched things about Puerto Rico and decided on the flag. The next couple of hours was a flurry of baking a few red velvet cupcakes, quickly cooling them, while whipping up butter cream frosting and artistically putting them together in the design of the Puerto Rican Flag. I was so pleased to see the photos of the beautiful lady herself with her cupcakes from Divine Treats. It was so rewarding to know she enjoyed her sweet treats.

My mother always said, “hard work brings reward” and I receive my rewards daily doing what I love. A hug from a client who enjoyed his or her cake, a phone call to say “thank you for fitting me in for a custom designed cake”, or a card in the mail from a satisfied customer makes my day. My goal is always to please my customers with freshly baked, and lovingly designed orders. The best one yet, is the customer who does not want to cut the cake because it’s too beautiful to eat. Yes, this is one makes my day every time.
